Today we went, along with Inge and Elena, to the “Scharzwälder Freilichtmusem Vogtsbauernhof”. Freilichtmusem literally translates to free light museum but can be translated as an open air museum, and the Vogtsbauernhof is because that is the name of the farm that was originally the basis of the museum that stands there today. And of course Schwarzwald is for black forest. At the museum were many different kinds of black forest farm-houses from different ages and different styles, along with the buildings that went alongside them like grain storage and baking huts and mills of different sorts. It was really cool seeing all of the different styles of houses and how life must have been like in the 16-1700’s. Some of the buildings were unused for a while whereas some had been in use all the way until the 1950’s. When we entered in we all together went to the same building but while I was still taking pictures everyone else continued on to see more. When I cam out I headed to the right but unbeknownst to me everyone had gone to the left side of the museum. I ended up looking at a lot of the older buildings while they on the other side were looking at the newer ones, so the first set of pictures will show the newer buildings and the second will show the older stuff. The splitting up was fine with me because I ended up being able to spend more time in the bigger section of the place. I would describe more but it was so much to see that nest to going there only the pictures can give it justice. If I could have I would have spent a few more hours there getting to explore the other half of the houses.

After we left the museum we headed into Offenburg to look around a tiny bit but mostly to go get dinner. We sat outside at a small restaurant and had Flammeküchen which is kinda like pizza but with a thin crust and a kind of sour cream like spread. We had two different kinds: one was bacon onions and garlic and the other was bacon onions cheese and a strange white German type of asparagus. They were really tasty. After eating we were all kind of tired so Inge and Elena went back to their house and we headed back to the Leibgedinghaus.
